Our story.

Excerpt from an interview with Founder Michael A. Jordan

"My brother was murdered right there in Newfield Park--the park we loved so much-- in broad daylight. Maybe 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. A lot of people around. Kids everywhere.

I happened to be sitting in a barbershop getting ready to get a haircut. Phone call comes in. My buddy Darren Jackson is on the phone and he says, Mike we gotta go. Buddy's been shot.

And that right there...changed my whole life."

Buddy Jordan's passing in 2004 was a catalyst for change in our Bridgeport community. Michael Jordan and his family set out to reaffirm community and collective solidarity in support of families affected by trauma. Every year since 2005, the Buddy Jordan Foundation has hosted a memorial event in Newfield Park to honor Buddy's life and give back to the community.

We're on a mission.

Our mission is to move the community forward through healing by creating space to confront and overcome trauma. To best meet the needs of local families, we have developed a variety of programs for both youth and adults.
