About Brothers Table

Brothers Table is a relational mentoring program invested in equipping young boys in middle and high school through personal growth, accountability, life skills, and spiritual formation. We partner with families, schools, and community stakeholders to foster long-term, meaningful mentor–mentee relationships that encourage the development of character, responsibility, and leadership.

 

Role Summary

The Mentoring Coordinator will manage the daily operations of the mentoring program: recruiting and screening volunteer mentors, training and supporting them, matching them with mentees, monitoring relationships, facilitating program events, handling data & reporting, and liaising with community partners. You will act as the backbone of the program, ensuring quality, consistency, and relational care.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment & Screening

  • Design and implement strategies to recruit volunteer mentors (schools, community groups, local partners, social media, outreach, etc.).

  • Oversee mentor applications, conduct interviews, reference checks, and background screenings.

  • Manage the intake process for mentees (gather application information, assess needs, align expectations)

 

Training & Support

  • Develop and lead orientation and training sessions for new mentors.

  • Facilitate ongoing training, refreshers, support groups, and peer learning sessions.

  • Serve as a resource and coach to mentors, offering guidance, encouragement, or mediation when challenges emerge.

Matching & Relationship Oversight

  • Evaluate mentee and mentor profiles (interests, schedules, goals).

  • Make wise mentor–mentee matches and facilitate introductions.

  • Monitor ongoing mentor–mentee relationships, perform check-ins, intervene or coach when needed.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Maintain program data (attendance, meeting logs, notes, feedback).

  • Conduct surveys, feedback sessions, and qualitative interviews to assess experience and impact.

  • Produce reports for Buddy Jordan leadership and board members on program outcomes Analyze data to uncover gaps and opportunities for improvement

Events & Community Building

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate group events, workshops, outings, retreats, or social gatherings for mentors and mentees.

  • Organize kickoff, recognition, or closing events to celebrate milestones.

  • Assist with communications (e.g., newsletters, social media updates, program content) to share stories, recruit, and keep the community engaged.

Partnership & Outreach

  • Cultivate relationships with local schools, churches, nonprofits, and community organizations for referrals and mentor pipelines.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local, minority-owned restaurants and catering companies to provide meals for each gathering.

  • Represent the Brothers Table program at community events, info sessions, and partner meetings.

  • Support promotional efforts (flyers, digital visuals, campaigns) to raise awareness of the program.

Program Growth & Quality Assurance

  • Work with leadership to refine program strategy, expansion plans, and curriculum development.

  • Participate in strategic planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

Required / Preferred:

  • Students pursuing a degree in social work, education, community development, or a related field are preferred.

  • Experience working with youth and/or volunteers, such as mentoring, coaching, and youth programs

  • Strong relational skills: ability to work well with adolescents, adult volunteers, and diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Experience in training, facilitation, or leading group sessions

  • Comfort with data, reporting, databases, or spreadsheets

  • Ability to work independently, adapt to evolving needs, and take initiative

  • Willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends (for trainings or events)

  • Familiarity with local minority-owned businesses and community resources is a plus.

Time Commitment & Working Conditions

  • The Brothers Table Coordinator will work primarily in a virtual setting but will also engage with the community during events and meetings.

  • Some evening and weekend availability will be required to accommodate program activities.
